The past two years have been really challenging since the outbreak of the pandemic, impacting the education system worldwide. The COVID outbreak led to the closure of schools across the world. Resultantly, education changed dramatically, with the distinctive rise of e-learning, where teaching was undertaken remotely and on digital platforms.

Although there are a number of options available for the parents to select from, schools and educational societies give it their best in providing world class education, resulting in a neck-to-neck competition of sorts, making it difficult for parents to choose the best school for their wards. Going ahead with an endeavor of building a school that gives students the best schooling experience, facilitated with all the amenities, a top-notch school could offer, Kola Perumal Chetty Vaishnav Senior Secondary School (KPCVSSS) came into existence in the year 1972.  The school is celebrating its Golden Jubilee this year.

Situated in the heart of the city of Chennai, Tamilnadu, KPCVSSS operates under the reputed Vallabhacharya Vidya Sabha. The school aims to provide holistic education, developing healthy relationships and positive social behaviour, inculcating emotional development and resilience among all its students.  An ISO-certified institution, the school promotes all-round learning arc for all students on campus, both in scholastic and non-scholastic fields. The school helps each individual to bring laurel to the school and himself/herself, with the immense support and cooperation from the school management.

Academically, the school has been producing 100% results.   All thanks to the dedicated staff and the enrichment programmes by professionals conducted for the students of std. During the COVID times, the school continued its teaching/learning through the Zoom/Google meet apps. The school was swift to adopt the latest technology and adapt curriculums to work in a virtual environment, to make the teaching-learning process more easier, effortless, and effective. After every period of 40 minutes, an interval of 10-20 minutes break was given. This was followed by light periods like Art, Craft, Yoga, P.T. etc, and great care was taken by the school to see that the screen view time of children was minimized, to reduce eye stress. Teachers were assigned duties to monitor the classes, while online classes were being observed by the Section Heads, the Principal and the Director.

Complete Hub of Inclusivity

Believing in the fact that every child is unique and different, just like the uniqueness in the fingerprints of every person, KPCVSSS is a complete hub of inclusivity, with  student-centered atmosphere, felt across the corners of the school imparting education filled with equal opportunities for all. The students at KPCVSSS learn in ways most comfortable to them, making them build on their strengths and work on their weaknesses. The school also puts in its best towards maintaining growth throughout their schooling years, enabling them to be a better version of themselves and as individuals excelling in the fields of academics and other co-curricular/extra-curricular activities.

Apart from imparting exceptional schooling experiences, the students are encouraged to take part in other activities such as Community Service, Skill Development Programmes, Awakened Citizenship Program, Art Integrated Education, Design Thinking, Artificial Intelligence and many more. Additionally, there are various programmes associated with the school such as Leader in Me’, which is a whole school transformation process that promotes personal development, emotional health and well-being of students of classes I to V & IX. ‘The Awakened Citizen Program’ ACP, is a unique programme  that  helps  students realize their complete potential and intrinsic greatness. The school also conducts quiz, debates & guest lectures regularly.

Moreover, adapting to the new norm and taking the whole pandemic crisis in a stride, Blended learning was implemented for classes I-V, facilitating learning via resources such as video modules, worksheets, assignments, small projects, online tests with the help of EBIX online tool. This alternative for online teaching is less taxing and more enjoyable for the students. Going ahead, the school adopted Hybrid learning for classes X & XII, following a model where some students attend class in-person, while others join the class virtually from home. “This is a comprehensive approach to combining the best parts of face-to-face and online learning to create an ideal learning environment”, stated Shri.
